TROUBLESHOOTING

Start with the setting most likely to block the workflow.

Most Discord issues come from stale channel data, role hierarchy, disabled modules, category restrictions, or a missing destination.

Quick health check

  1. Run /modra status.Confirm the displayed Discord server is correct.
  2. Check the module.Confirm it is enabled and visible to your dashboard role.
  3. Refresh Discord data.Use the page refresh control after creating or changing channels and roles.
  4. Check role hierarchy.Modra's highest bot role must be above every role it manages and every member role it needs to moderate.
  5. Check the destination.Confirm the configured channel exists and allows Modra to view, send, embed, attach, and manage as required. Also inspect category inheritance and channel overrides.

Common issues

A channel, category, role, or member is missing

Use Refresh channels & roles on the affected page. Confirm the item still exists, Modra can view it, and you are editing the intended community.

A role was not assigned or removed

Move Modra’s highest bot role above the target role. Confirm Manage Roles is enabled and the target is not an integration-managed role. Administrator permission does not bypass Discord role hierarchy.

A timeout, kick, or ban did not work

Modra can only moderate members whose highest role is below Modra’s highest bot role, and it cannot moderate the Discord server owner. Move the bot role above the member’s highest role and confirm the required moderation permission is enabled.

Modra cannot see or post in a configured channel

Give Modra’s bot role the permissions required by that module in the channel or its parent category. Check channel-specific overrides when category permissions look correct. Administrator can provide blanket access, but it is optional and grants broad server control at the owner’s own risk.

A launcher or button says Modra hit a snag

Confirm the module and category are enabled, all configured channels still exist, and the member meets category role requirements. Run /modra status to verify the guild assignment.

An application already exists but staff cannot find it

Check the pending application channel and the Applications dashboard. If the review message was removed, the dashboard record remains the fallback. Completed items appear in the configured completion log.

A user cannot receive an application DM

The member may have server DMs disabled. Modra offers the secure web form as a fallback; the page uses the community’s configured theme.

A Modra authorization or dashboard link will not open

Confirm the browser can open https://modra.kenzie.wtf directly. A local firewall, antivirus web shield, DNS filter, VPN, parental-control service, or managed network may block the connection before it reaches Modra. Allowlist modra.kenzie.wtf in the applicable security tool, then request a new time-limited authorization link. Do not broadly disable firewall or antivirus protection.

A Twitch or Kick stream is missing

Confirm the streamer is approved and used /streamer connect. Check the live channel, streamer and Live Now roles, current platform game, title keywords, and platform credentials. Use the test notification to isolate Discord presentation from platform detection.

A stream changed title or game after going live

The next scheduled platform refresh re-evaluates the stream. It posts only after the current data passes every requirement.

An uploaded image disappeared

Use Upload image so Modra stores it in the community media library. Avoid treating temporary Discord attachment URLs as durable hosting.

An avatar or banner is cropped poorly

Open Branding, select Adjust crop and position, drag and zoom the full source image, apply the adjustment, and confirm the profile preview before saving.

Welcome or leave messages do not post

Confirm Welcome & Leave is enabled, separate destination channels are selected, and Modra can view, send, embed, and attach files in each one.

Spam was detected but no timeout occurred

Confirm automatic enforcement is enabled, the selected response includes a timeout, Modra can moderate that member, and the member is not covered by an ignored role.

The bot appears offline

Check the external status monitor first. If the bot service restarted automatically, allow it a moment to reconnect, then run /modra status. Contact support if the alert reports repeated restart failures.

Contact support

Email modra@kenzie.wtf with the Discord server name, affected module, approximate time, what you expected, what happened, and a screenshot when useful.

Never include secrets

Do not send bot tokens, OAuth client secrets, database passwords, webhook secrets, private setup links, or session cookies. Modra support access must be explicitly granted by the community owner.
